I looked at his agitated face, expressionless.
“I’ve already died once for Seraphina Hayes. If you need another human shield, find
someone else.”
But Caleb Thorne held me in a death grip, refusing to let go.
“I only want you! Only you!”
“Elara, you don’t know how long I’ve been looking for you. I practically turned that whole world upside down, and here you are!”
“I’ve missed you so much these past few months. I know I was careless. I’ve punished them severely. This time, there won’t be anyone to stop us. Can we start over?”
I let out a mocking laugh.
“And then, when your little princess gets thirsty or hungry, will you abandon me again?”
Caleb Thorne solemnly promised, “No, never again. Seraphina Hayes has been sent to a strict behavioral reform program. She won’t be back until she learns some proper manners.”
“From now on, she’ll be the one waiting on *you*”
I gave him a cold, dismissive glare, as if I was seeing him for the first time.
“You’re throwing away Seraphina Hayes, the woman you protected for five years, just like that. How do I know this isn’t just a passing whim for you?”
“I discovered the truth too late. If I had known you loved me so much, I would have
cherished you. After all, I never intended to be with Seraphina Hayes from the beginning. I
only ever saw her as a little sister.”
I didn’t want to deal with him anymore, but Caleb Thorne stubbornly wouldn’t let go.
Declan Reed, standing nearby, grew furious. He pushed Caleb Thorne away. “This is my girlfriend. Who are you, you lunatic?”
r
Caleb, radiating a menacing aura, refused to back down. “This is my wife. We’re legally
married.”
But he couldn’t produce a marriage certificate, because everything related to me had vanished with the failed mission.
Declan shielded me. “Get lost, don’t interrupt our date!”
Caleb Thorne threw a punch.
The two men began to fight.
I was also curious, so I asked the system how Caleb Thorne had appeared.
The system replied, “The shock Caleb Thorne received was too great; he didn’t lose his memories of you.”
“He also discovered that when others were on the verge of death, they’d remember everything about you. So, he’s been *killing* people, a lot of them. He’s completely lost his
mind.”
“A scientist told him he could help him find you, and he actually managed to locate you.”
I was surprised.
But Caleb Thorne’s belated affection didn’t move me. I only found him utterly hypocritical.
“System, send him back.”
The system hesitated, then said, “Caleb Thorne’s insane actions have severely disrupted world order. He’s lost his male lead aura. If he goes back, he’ll certainly be hunted down by
his enemies.”
“He’s as good as dead.”
I felt no pity. “Send him back.”
“Understood. Ten minutes until the male lead returns to his original world.”
Caleb Thorne seemed to sense something. He looked at his disappearing hands and feet,
utterly崩溃.
“Elara, are you abandoning me? Your parents are still in that world, and I, who love you,
am there too!”
I pointed to the middle-aged couple behind Declan.
“You mean my parents? I already brought them here.”
Ever since I learned that my parents hadn’t lost their memories and were frantically searching for someone to clear my name, I spent all my accumulated points to bring them
over.
“As for you, Caleb Thorne, you don’t deserve me.”
Caleb Thorne vanished from the spot.
Later, the system told me that Caleb Thorne was imprisoned, bound, and hunted, yet he
just scoffed at his captors, claiming they were all just NPCs.
So, he suffered even more brutal torment.
It was truly self-inflicted.
Meanwhile, Declan, the moment he saw my parents, immediately bent down, practically doting on them.
He pulled out a chair for me, then pitifully took my hand.
“Elara, I’ll treat you well. Please don’t leave me?”
I pointed to a young couple arguing behind him and asked, “Do you feel anything for that girl?”
Declan’s gaze swept over everyone’s faces, then he asked, puzzled, “Which one are you talking about?”
There was no fated ‘spark’ no destined moment Declan couldn’t even point out the
heroine’ among them.
The heroine was clearly sparkling in the crowd, but at that moment, only I was in his
eyes.
Only I was his one and only heroine.
My parents secretly gave me a thumbs-up. “Sweetie, this young man is good.”
I smiled and gave Declan a promise.
“It’s fine if you can’t find her.”
“Anyway, we have plenty of time ahead of us.”
