Chapter 7

After that day, Justin couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad was coming.

He headed back to the ward. But when he opened the door, it was empty.

Panic hit him fast. He looked around like crazy, pulled out his phone with shaking hands, and called the number he knew by heart.

It just kept ringing until it cut off. No one answered.

Justin felt more uneasy. Sweat broke out on his forehead. –

“Pick up! Why won’t you pick it up?”

His frustration exploded as he roared, “Lillian! Why aren’t you answering me?”

He lost it, hurling the phone at the wall. It shattered on impact.

Justin stormed out of the hospital and sped straight to his wedding house. But everything had changed. Eliza had re- done the whole place.

He didn’t care about any of that. He just kept yelling as he walked around.

“Lillian! Are you here?

“Don’t joke around. I’ll let it go if you just admit you were wrong.”

But the house stayed silent. No one answered him.

He made his way into the study, where two file folders sat on the desk.

His instincts told him that he would be doomed if he opened those.

He walked over slowly and opened the first one, his hands shaking.

As he scanned the contents, his eyes went wide. He couldn’t believe what he was reading.

His head dropped, eyes turning red.

“No way… Lillian must have faked this. She just wanted me to regret it.”

Justin kept repeating those thoughts, hoping denial would make it all go away.

But the deeper he went into the file, the worse he felt. When he reached the last page, his legs gave out, and he col- lapsed in shock.

He grabbed the edges of the papers tightly, crumpling them up.

“How could any of this be real?”

His brain felt scrambled. He couldn’t think straight.

He ignored that Lillian was his wife and crossed so many lines just because he was blinded by his hatred.

But now she was telling him he got revenge on the wrong person? How was he supposed to accept that?

He had come up with this whole plan to destroy Armstrong Pharmaceuticals. It worked. Lillian’s father ended up jumping off a building, and her grandmother died because of what he did. He thought it was payback against the Armstrong family.

And now, hearing that it was all a mistake? He couldn’t wrap his head around it.

Justin paused for a bit before reaching for the second file.

He had barely pulled out part of the document when the huge words on the page hit him hard.

It was a divorce paper.

His hands started shaking as he opened the file all the way.

As he expected, Lillian had already signed it. Seeing her name there felt like a knife to the chest.

Without thinking, Justin ripped the papers apart.

He slammed his fist into the wall, blood dripping right away.

But he didn’t care. He just kept hitting the wall, completely lost in his feelings. He didn’t even realize Eliza had come in until she was already there.

She stared at his bloody hand worriedly.

“Justin, what are you doing?”
