Chapter 12
Damon instinctively wanted to tear up the mate bond termination form in his
hand.
But then it hit him–this might be the last thing Ariel ever left behind.
If he destroyed it, he wouldn’t even have this one last piece of her.
Over and over, he traced her name with his fingertips, eyes full of longing.
“Ariel, it’s my fault. I never should’ve been with another she–wolf. I only love
you!”
“You can hit me, yell at me, do whatever you want… just please, don’t leave.
me.”
“I can’t live without you, Ariel…”
He said those words again and again until his voice was raw and hoarse.
But the one person who needed to hear them wasn’t there.

His mate mark couldn’t sense or track her anymore.
She was gone.
“Ariel, I haven’t signed it yet. That means our bond isn’t broken. We’re still
mates. I will find you!”
Damon’s gaze turned cold with resolve.
There was no way he was letting her go.
He was the alpha of the Thornfang Pack. Ariel was his Luna.
He could admit he was wrong–but he would never accept losing her.
Determined, Damon carefully stored the bond termination form away like a
treasured keepsake.
Thankfully, he still had her photos on his phone. They were all he had left to
ease the ache of missing her.

He searched the entire house, desperate to find anything connected to Ariel.
But she had wiped herself clean from the place.
The clothes she didn’t need–sold or tossed.
Even the furniture had been completely replaced.
Every last trace of her was gone.
Just then, Isabelle called.
“Alpha, I saw something online about ‘Ariel‘ being put up for auction. Luna-”
“What did you say?”
疫
Damon’s heart clenched. He immediately hung up, not giving her a chance to
say more.
“Beta, look into this for me. If ‘Ariel‘ is being auctioned again, buy it–no matter
the cost.”

It was a long time before the beta called back, hesitating.
“Uh… Alpha, Ariel has already been bought by a foreign collector. We were too
late…”
Thud-
The phone slipped from Damon’s hand and hit the ground. The screen
shattered on impact.
He’d only been a little too late. How could this happen?
“Ariel” symbolized his love for her. She sold it once… how could she bear to sell
it again?
Did his love mean absolutely nothing to her?
His eyes dropped, and a wave of despair washed over him–deeper than any
battle with a hundred rogue wolves.
Even “Ariel” now belonged to someone else. What about her?

Did she belong to someone else too?
Damon couldn’t even bear to imagine it.
From the moment he first saw Ariel, he had known she was the one.
甘
They were fated mates. He was supposed to spend the rest of his life with her.
He had dreamed of their future together–every version ending in happiness.
So how had they ended up like this?
He hated himself. And he hated Isabelle even more.
If not for Isabelle, would everything have turned out differently?
Alone in the empty house, Damon sat surrounded by silence and heartbreak.
He carefully pulled the Alaskan roast from the trash.
It had gone cold and lost its sweet aroma long ago.

But he ate it slowly, reverently–because it had been her favorite.
She hadn’t even had a single bite.
Then, something caught his eye–Ariel’s SIM card in the trash.
He snatched it up, cleaned it off, and slipped it into his phone.
It felt like a lifeline, like she was still close, still reachable.
Suddenly, his screen lit up with a text from a familiar number.
Ariel, Damon loves me the most. You didn’t really think selling ‘Ariel‘ would
bring him back, did you? Guess what–we were still tangled up in that bed
today.
