Chapter 6

“Only an idiot would come back from the dead and waste their second chance on love and heartbreak,” I said.

Then, I got out of bed, put on my shoes, and looked at all of them with icy calm. “That’s why I said I’m not marrying you. I wasn’t joking.”

She stared at me, biting her lip hard enough to bleed.

The professor’s congratulatory message had confirmed it. My proposed technology had passed the final testing stage.

She instantly recognized that it was the same project I had been researching in our past lives.

She had prepared herself for everything-me clinging to her again, me changing my college preference to win her back.

But what she never expected was that I never once made her my goal.

As I passed by her, I whispered, “Life gave us a second chance, and all you cared about was your petty little romance.”

Then I dropped a folder in front of them.

It was evidence.

Footage of them illegally deleting my college application.

I had a feeling from the beginning that these people wouldn’t leave me alone. So ever since I came back, I’d been carrying a recorder.

Not only did I record the moment they altered my college submission and assaulted me, I also submitted the footage of me being shoved down the stairs and strung up to be beaten to the admissions office at Stanford.

Just as Toby came running in, Ellen got a notification.

Stanford had officially withdrawn her admission.

Bryant’s POV

[Due to the severity of Miss Ellen Olson’s actions, Stanford University has decided to withdraw her admission effective immediately.]

“Ellen!” Toby actually looked excited as he rushed over. “This is great! Now we can go to the private university together. We’ll be even closer!”

But Ellen didn’t say a word.

Seeing her reaction, Toby looked down, puzzled. It was only then that he realized her eyes weren’t on him.

She was staring at me, expression unreadable.

“Ellen?” His voice wavered with unease.

Then, shockingly, the woman who always doted on him pushed him aside.

what you want.”

I blinked. I thought I’d misheard her.

But her gaze was firm.

“That way, you won’t have to worry about me getting engaged to Toby behind your back. We can get it legally notarized,” she continued.

I actually laughed.

I stopped walking toward the door and turned back around, slowly making my way toward

her.

Toby clenched his fists, watching the scene.

Ellen smiled faintly, clearly thinking everything was going according to her plan.

But to her surprise, my hand came down on her face, hard and sudden.

“Bryant, what the hell?!” Toby yelled, rushing to block me.

I ignored him and said coldly, “Ellen, do you really think I crawled back from the edge of death, studied day and night, broke through scientific limitations just for you to glance back at me? Who do you think you are? Who do you think I am?”

“Bryant! You dare hit my daughter?!” Mrs. Olson charged at me like a storm, her hand raised high.

I tilted my chin up and stared her down. “Go ahead. Try it.”

Then, I raised the recording device in my hand. “You think I reported you once, and I won’t do it again?”

Her hand froze mid-air.

“All the data is being transmitted in real-time to my friend. Even if you lock me up again, it won’t matter. He’ll expose everything,” I revealed.

“You-!” She was trembling with rage. Her teeth clenched so hard that I could hear it. “Don’t forget that your family still depends on us! And don’t you forget, you need us just as much.” They might’ve had a hundred-year legacy, but they were still a business family. A marriage alliance was always a calculated decision.

They might have looked down on my nouveau riche family, but if they chose us, it meant they needed us in some way, too.

“Let him go,” Ellen finally said.

Her mother and Toby both turned to her in shock. “Ellen-”

“I said, let him go,” Ellen repeated, shouting.

“Ellen!” Mrs. Olosn shouted, on the verge of exploding.

But Ellen stayed calm, watching me. “It’s okay, he’ll come back.”

With the absurd scene unfolding, I snorted. “Keep dreaming.”

12:22 Sun, 13 Jul NOM

Then, I turned to leave.

In that instant, Mrs. Olson panicked. “After everything he’s done to us? You think he’ll come

back?!”

“He will,” Ellen said confidently.

Curious, I glanced back and saw she was still looking at me, eyes sharp, voice quiet and full of meaning.

“I know how to make him come back,” she added.

“You’re insane,” I muttered and walked off without another glance.

But it didn’t take long before I found out exactly what she meant.

Ellen didn’t go to university.

Meanwhile, I used the profits from my newly developed technology to start a tech

company.

thought that was the end of it-that our story, our rivalry, had finally reached a clear conclusion.

But then I noticed something strange.

No matter what new products or innovations my company released, there was always another company that launched a near-exact copy soon after, selling it for dirt cheap and stealing the market.

As the numbers in our accounts grew more and more unstable, I had to investigate.

I dug deep to find the mastermind behind that rival company.

And to my surprise, it was none other than Ellen.
