After leaving Torres Group, I drove home alone to Peterson
Manor.

Since my father Bennett Peterson and mother Adeline Peterson died in a car accident, Peterson Manor had remained vacant. Despite the housekeeper’s regular maintenance, the place had gradually become cold and desolate without anyone living there.
I sat in Bennett’s study, quietly watching the sunset through the window until darkness completely engulfed the surroundings.
My mood sank into darkness as well.
Then I retrieved the last document Bennett had signed before his death from the safe.
Before Bennett passed away, Adrian had sworn at his bedside to love and protect me for the rest of his life.
Worried that Peterson Group would be divided up after his death, Bennett used his last strength to sign this agreement with Adrian in the presence of a lawyer.
The agreement stipulated: all assets of Peterson Group would be injected into Torres Group, under Adrian’s full control; if we divorced, I would unconditionally receive half of Torres Group and Adrian’s personal assets.

Touching Bennett’s familiar handwriting on the document, I felt my eyes well up with tears.
I thought to myself: “Dad, Adrian has ultimately failed the Peterson family. But it’s okay, I’ll take back everything that belongs to the Peterson family.”
Holding Bennett and Adeline’s photograph, I curled up on the small sofa in the study and gradually fell asleep.
In my drowsy state, I heard Lillian’s voice: “Adrian, I’ve loved Harper’s house since I was little. Will you give it to me?”
I pushed open the study door and stood in the hallway looking down. The living room was brightly lit, and Lillian was holding Adrian’s arm, looking around my home.
Adrian dotingly tapped her nose with his finger and said with a smile, “Alright.”
At that moment, I turned on the hallway light and walked downstairs into the living room.
I said, “Mr. Torres, Torres Group is yours to decide. But Peterson Manor is under my personal name, and you have no right to dispose of it.”
Lillian looked up at Adrian with a grieved expression, her delicate appearance enough to make anyone feel sorry for her.

Adrian said coldly, “Harper, if I want Peterson Manor, I have plenty of ways to get it. While I’m still willing to discuss this with you, you’d better be smart and accept.”
This version of Adrian was completely foreign to me—so foreign it sent a chill through my heart.
I slowly walked toward them, and Adrian instinctively pulled
Lillian behind him.
Adrian said, “Harper, Lillian is different from anyone else to me. No matter what it costs, I’ll give her whatever she wants.”
I said nothing and raised my hand, delivering a sharp slap across his face.
Immediately, four distinct finger marks appeared on his left cheek.
I slowly rubbed my numb right hand and asked coldly, “What if Ms. Young wants Mrs. Torres’s position?”
After I slapped him, Adrian instantly became serious, on the verge of exploding. But upon hearing my words, he froze in place.
The title of “Mrs. Torres” was tied to Harper.

I could give up the “Mrs. Torres” position, but his price would be losing the Torres Group and half of his personal assets.
However, his capabilities weren’t strong enough to withstand the fury of all the board members.
Watching his expression change constantly, I couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Adrian, you didn’t act like this when you were relying on the Peterson family.
“It was my father who invested in the Torres Group regardless of cost, personally taught you business, that gave you today’s Torres Group. Although my father has passed away, I’m still a member of the Peterson family. Don’t think the Torres Group is really under your control.”
Adrian’s face grew increasingly dark. He clenched his teeth tightly, clearly struggling to control his emotions.
Just as the atmosphere became extremely tense, Lillian, who had been protected behind Adrian, gently tugged at his sleeve and said softly, “Adrian, I don’t want Mrs. Torres’s position. I won’t put you in a difficult situation.”
Adrian’s tense body suddenly relaxed. He took Lillian’s hand and looked at me meaningfully.
Then he said coldly, “Harper, since you’re being so aggressive, we’ll divorce sooner or later.”

I straightened my spine and said proudly, “The Peterson family rules never taught me to compromise with anyone.”
I pointed toward the front door and said coldly, “If you two don’t leave now, I’m calling the police.”
Adrian walked out holding Lillian’s hand. At the doorway, he turned back and said, “Harper, I will definitely give the Peterson Manor to Lillian. You’d better prepare yourself.”
