Lotus POV
“Hey, Flower, I got an ointment for your itch,” Mom says through the door, but no ointment would work on this thing on my back.
“It’s all good mom,” I assure her.
“You sure sweetie, you got such sensitive skin,” she says still worried about me and my stupid itch.
“Yeah mom, it’s nothing.” I say, I can’t tell her what’s going on, about this! She’ll think it’s great news but now after I have seen her mark, I know what it means, and I refuse to have anything like that done to
- me.
I did shower, I even scrubbed my shoulder really well, trying to get the damn mark off, but it wouldn’t budge, it looked like it had been there for years, while I have felt it coming by the itch and that’s it, it won’t leave my body now.
I dried myself well, put on my pj to make sure that mom won’t be to see anything and then I went to my room, to my bed to hide there, but they wanted to talk some more to me, asking me about more details of the party, but I told them that I’m just exhausted and wanted to go to bed.
I took a deep breath and then unleashed a muffled scream into my pillow, how could this be? And why now! I’ve been here for almost a month, why did it just appear, was it one of the guys I was hanging out

I’m going to kill him, that’s my big plan, when I find the son of bitch wolf, I’m going to kill him or her, and then I won’t be mated to anyone. and I won’t be forced to live here for any longer than I have to.
I got my phone and started to research on how to know which wolf have cursed me, all of my research said the mark would show as soon as I’ve met the wolf, or have just been in the same spot as them, close, very close to them, which means that it could be any of the wolves who’ve been around the party earlier.
I can’t just yell and demand to know who the mate is, I won’t be able to kill them then, they’d be much stronger than me, and I won’t have the element of surprise, so I’m gonna have to wait and find out who that is, maybe if I don’t tell about the mark, no one would know it’s there.
I’m gonna have to ask Rosie or Nutmeg more about it in the morning, with another groan, I flipped and rolled in bed trying to get comfortable, but my shoulder was buzzing, it wasn’t very comfortable. The night was spent miserably, I groaned flipped and let down a few tears, unable to hold them back after all, I got up in the morning suffering from a killer headache, my head was buzzing as well.
I washed my face three times with cold water trying to get the redness

to leave my face, we didn’t have today, so I didn’t have to put
the uniform on or get ready, I made sure to wear an extra baggy hoodie
that wouldn’t touch my back and would hide the mark.
“Good morning sweetie, breakfast?” Mom asks me.
“Where did the wolf go?” I ask her grumpily, I didn’t want to see him, but wanted to know where he is so I’d keep my distance.
“He’s picking his brother up from the academy, he came last night, but decided to crash in the academy instead of coming here late,” Mom
says.
“Brother? His brother gonna stay with us?” I ask her.
“He might crash here a night or two, but no his brother gonna move in the academy, but until he gets settled there,” Mom says with a shrug.
“What brother. I didn’t know he had a brother,” I quiz her, how come she never told me about him.
“Levent is the middle child out of three, he got an older sister and a younger brother,” Mom answers me.
“And this brother?” I repeat.
“He’s a nice guy, well I’m sure he is, I never met him, he’s moving in as a trainer in the military academy, and he’s coming over to spend some time with Levent and getting to meet us,” Mom says..
“I don’t want to meet him.” I object quickly.
“Lotus, he’s like an uncle to you, be nice,” Mom says.
“He’s not you don’t have any siblings, so no uncles for me,” I keep on objecting.
“Then your step–uncle Lotus, do you need to fight me over everything?” Mom asks with a groan.
“If you didn’t call him my uncle which he is not, then I won’t have said anything,” I say with a shrug.
“Lotus, be nice, or else,” she warns me.
“Are you going to throw me to the wolves, wooo! I’m so scared.” I say in a mocking tone, getting up, putting my plate away and decided that I didn’t want to meet this brother of his, I’m just going to run and hide over at Nutmeg’s place, maybe check if Rosie wanna join us as well.
“Lotus,” Mom says in a threatening voice, but I ignored her, telling her I’ll be hiding over at Nutmeg’s place and once the brother leaves, I’ll come back, that was my grand plan.
“Fine, go,” Mom says, at least she didn’t try to stop me.
I walked down to
the
beta’s house with the plan of asking Nutmeg about the mark, how would I know who to kill, can I refuse it and be over with it, but I had to be careful and not actually tell her any details about why I’m suddenly so curious of the mating mark.
I knocked on their door and waited for someone to open for me, but sadly for me it was the beta Emmaline, and no sign of Nutmeg.
“Is she coming back anytime soon?” I ask worried that I won’t have anywhere to hide in.
“I’m not sure. Lotus, she’s out with Mariano, are you okay?” she asks
- me.
“Uhhh…it’s just…I wanted to get out of the house,” I confess to her.
“You’re welcome to come in, you can keep me company,” she says and I was grateful for her offer, so I followed her inside.
“Do you want a coffee, it’s the weekend, I’m sure your parents wouldn’t care,” she says, offering me a cup, I took it from her, drinking the hot liquid, it helped since I didn’t get any sleep last night.

“Beta, I’m curious,” I say, since I can’t ask Nutmeg. I’ll ask her mother, I’ll get them straight from the wolf’s mouth.
“Tell me, child,” she answers right away, she had a tone of papers in front of her, some looked like hand written letters, others were printed
out.
“How do you do it?” I ask her.
“Do what love? Cause that could be a bird and bees question, a transformation question, or you could be simply asking about the coffee,” she says making me chuckle, she’s right, it’s not like everyone have only in their mind the sudden appearance of the mark on my shoulder.
“I mean mating a human, how do you
just asking about mom and her wolf, or maybe Nutmeg and Mariano, she doesn’t know how personal this question is right now.

“Oh that sweetie, it’s something the goddess gives us,” she answers me, but that wasn’t enough.
“But how do you actually know who belongs to whom?” I ask her again, trying to understand things.

“So it’s love from first sight?” I ask her, I didn’t see anyone.
“Yes, and it’s a lot more than that, I knew my mate was around, I could feel him. I was out in the human towns, chasing some teenagers of mine, they sneaked into a grocery store trying to get alcohol, and I followed them, but as soon as I walked in, I felt it, my mate was
around. I had to search for him, or her. back then I didn’t know,” she says and I nod my head, so this wolf who dared to curse me, they don’t actually know me, if I avoid meeting anyone new, there’s no chance in meeting that wolf.
“So you went around the grocery store looking into people’s eyes asking if they are your mate?” I ask her with a chuckle.
“I didn’t have to do that exactly, I was following my heart, I knew he was close, and I could just tell it’s him he’s it,” she says in a romantic voice, talking in a tone that says she misses her mate.
“What happens if you don’t find him?” I ask her, what if this wolf can’t find me, then they’d just move on with life and leave me in peace.
“If I didn’t find him lost in the diaper aisle. Nutmeg would’ve suffered from a couple diaper rashes before he got the hang of it, but it’s not just that, not finding him would’ve caused him a lot of harm, it’s a wolf duty to find their mate,” she says matter of fact.
“How would it cause him harm?” I say not understanding that part.
“It’ll just start with itch and buzzing where their mark would be, then it’ll be physically painful, next they’d run a fever, and things would only get worse from there until the wolf does their job and find them.” she says.
“Mom and wolf didn’t move in together right away, they were dating.” I say and mom didn’t get any fever or anything like that.
“True, but they knew about each other, the wolf was satisfied of finding their mate, they must have been spending a lot of time together too, talking and…you know.” she says making my face turn bloody red.
“Okay, I got it, so you’re not mad when Nutmeg is with Mariano, you know?” I ask her curiously.
“They’re mates, you can’t stand between mates, they’d always find each other and find a way.” she answers me.
“What if one of them reject the other?” I ask her.
“Death, for both, they’d meet in heaven and the goddess Celine will take care of them.” she answers me, making me go pale, death? I’d take some fever over death any day, maybe it’ll all end soon, maybe if they can’t find me, they’d leave me be.
“Why are you so curious about mates all of a sudden?” she asks me, with a raised brow
“I don’t like the wolf,” I say blaming Levent.
“You’d grow to like him, does he treat you well, is he being rude to you?” she asks me
“Nah. I just don’t like him,” I say with a shrug.
“I guess that’s normal for when you have a step father. I’m very lucky that Nutmeg loves me,” she says with a sigh. Nutmeg adores her, she calls her mom and believes it with all of her heart.
“Nutmeg adores you, me and the wolf are honest with each other, we
making her laugh. both don’t like the other.” I
“What are you working on?” I ask her next, trying to get my brain off the burning of my shoulder.
“I get messages from the pack, not everyone is willing to talk to me. and I don’t have time to hear them, so they send me messages or letters.
and I make sure to fix whatever needs to be fixed,” she says.
“What if it’s urgent?” I ask.
“Then they’d bring their arses over for me to deal with it,” she says.
“If this isn’t the pack land, how come you’re the beta?” I ask her curiously.
“The alpha is back home, so someone needs to be here with the kids. it’s the same for every pack.” she answers me.
“Okay, do you mind if I stay longer?” I ask her.
“Of course not, stay it’s why I’m here,” she says with a smile, and I was happy to have some quiet time to think
