Lotus POV
“Are you ready girl? He’s going out on a date with me, not you,” Mom yelled out at me, I was hiding in the bathroom still, I now I was going to come out but I changed my mind and decided I need some more private time alone.
“Mom, how about we skip me meeting him? You date and live your happily ever after life, and you leave me behind,” I say, knowing the answer too well.
“LOTUS GARDEN GREEN! GET YOUR ASS OUT OF THAT BATHROOM,” she yells at me, great now I’m in troubles. He might be mom’s long–term dream and her soulmate, as they put it, that if it’s true and he’s it, if he’s not lying to her, or playing with her, but her one and only condition is to keep me.
“Mom…I was joking,” I say looking down, my bangs helping me to hide from her eyes, she got that look that would make you feel guilty, even if you’re innocent.
“Don’t ever, and I mean ever! Say those words again, I’ll never leave you behind, not for a wolf or anything else out there,” she says in her firm voice, the one she uses when she’s scolding me, or assuring me that all would be okay.
“Okay, what do I wear?” I ask her with a sigh, I want to make it up for her.

“Would you wear your pink dress? Makes you look cute,” she suggests.
“You want me to look cute for the boyfriend? So he’d think I’m a child who’s so innocent,” I say, teasing her.
“Fuck no Lotus, Fuck no, just put on your jeans and your favorite shirt,” she says with a groan.
“Can it be my hoodie?” I ask her, batting my eyelashes at her.
“Whatever makes you happy Lotus,” she groans and I smiled, I won, she might have the eyes of a puppy, but I’m sneaky like a cat.
I put on my oversized hoodie, jeans, and a pair of tennis shoes, I brushed my hair and sprayed perfume, I always hear that the wolves have a stronger sense of smell, so I did an extra spray of perfume for good luck. We didn’t own a car, it’s too damn expensive, instead we took a taxi to go meet the said boyfriend, he offered to come pick us up, but we preferred to go alone.
“Are you ready? Lotus, if you don’t wanna do it, we can go back home,” Mom says, holding my hand tight, I couldn’t say no to her.
“Let’s go mom, let’s just meet this mystery guy of yours,” I say taking a deep breath.
I’m terrified of wolves; it’s not a thing that I keep hidden, Mom knows it, but it better stay our little secret, I don’t want to give him any ammo. We walked into the restaurant head held high, mom told the hostess our name, informing her that someone is waiting for us, we were led to our table right away, where a tall tanned guy with piercing black eyes was waiting for us.

When he saw mom his frown turned into a big toothy smile, he opened his arms for her, his body engulfing hers, but he let her go quickly, and then turned to me.
“Hello, Lotus, it’s nice to finally meet you, I heard tone of stories about you,” he says making my cheeks turn bloody pink, what kind of stories did she dare to share?
“Good things I hope,” I answer him.
“Let’s just say I feel like I know you already,” he says
“Is that so? What’s my favorite color?” I ask him.
“It’s pink…” he says and I was about to stop him, telling him how wrong his is, but he was quick to continue his sentence, “But it’s also blue, you like to confuse people,” he says which was true.
“Fine, how old am I?” I ask him next.
“You’re sixteen,” he answers me.
“When’s…” I start.
“Fifteen of October,” he says which made me pout, I’m going to make the questions even harder now.
“What’s my favorite animal?” I ask him.
“Sloth,” he answers me with a smile on his face, mom points for me to sit down, I did but kept eye contact with the boyfriend.
“What else do you know?” I ask him.

you got a couple friends at school but you love your mother the most, she’s your bestie,” she says and I had to hold back my laugh, she called herself my bestie, we’re really close and I feel like her only friend sometimes, but the bitch didn’t bother to tell me anything about him, so I turned to her with a glare.
“What?” she says trying to sound innocent.
“Victoria Green, you haven’t told me anything about this man except that he’s the boyfriend,” I say, feeling hurt.
“If you remember, I tried to tell you about him, but you stopped me every time, especially when I mentioned…” she says wanting to say when she mentioned him being a wolf which I found revolting.
“It’s fine, I get to interrogate him, I mean get to know him right now,” I say turning to him, I’m going to give this man a chance for mom.
“What’s your full name, profession, age, how do you plan on treating these women, and where do you see yourself in five years?” I ask him in a professional voice.
“My name is Levent Wolverine Savage, I’m a lieutenant in the american army, I’m forty two, I plan on treating her with love and care. In her arms of course,” he says with a wink, disgusting.
“Come on guys, let’s order they have the best lasagna in town, you’re gonna like it,” Mom says with a smile, trying to bribe me with my favorite food,
“What would he be having? Steak under–cooked? Bloody red?” I ask him with a raised brow.
“I prefer it to be medium, but no thank you, I think I’ll go with the

salmon option,” he says with a shrug.
“Hmm…I think I’ll just have a salad,” mom says gaining a double glare from us both, salad isn’t real food, and if this man is for real, then he wouldn’t approve of her eating just salad.
“Try again sweetheart, this time pick a real meal,” Levent says with the same toothy smile.
“If I must, I’ll get the ribs with a side of mash potatoes,” she says with a big smile, now that’s a women who could eat like a wolf.
“That’s my girl,” Levent says chuckling, and then he proceeded to order us the food, asking for extra gravy on mom’s plate, the way she likes it.
Before food, Mom tried to start small talk between the three of us, but I wasn’t interested in anything he had to say, I just wanted this to end. and prayed for Mom’s heart not to get broken too harshly.
“I live in the army compound, we got a great school district there. I’m sure you’d be making tone of friends there,” he says out of the blue, or maybe he was talking but I wasn’t following.
“Huh? Excuse you?” I answered him.
“I was telling you Lotus, when me and your mother get together, we’ll be upgraded to a family housing, it’s in a private compound, it includes everything, including a great high school for you,” he repeats his
words to me.
“That if you and my mother get together, I don’t trust you, wolf,” I say out loud.

“I don’t expect you to, but your mother does and you better trust her judgment,” he says hitting low, he knows I love my mother above all else.
“Doesn’t mean she’ll move in with you,” I say but I doubted my own words, mom seemed to be so taken by him, she had begged me for hours on end to get me to come here and meet him.
“Actually, this is why we’re here, Lotus,” Mom says, and I turned to her so quickly, my head spinning from the sudden move.
“Why are we here mother?” I ask her in a firm voice.
“Levent and I…we’re serious,” she says, holding his hand over the table.
“Doesn’t mean you gotta move in with him,” I object yet again.
“Well…baby…you see it’s not about moving in,” she says.
“Then what’s it about?” I ask her furiously.
“Careful, this is your mother you’re talking to,” Levent butts in.
“Yes, my mother, and none of your business,” I answer him with a blank stare.
“She’s my mate, which makes her my business,” he answers, challenging me to object.
“And how do you know she is?” I ask him with a scoff, he could be just lying to her.
“I just know, a wolf knows,” he says his voice holding the faintest growl in it.

“Guys calm down, we should leave,” Mom says getting up, none of us had the chance to finish our food.
“Yeah, we should, let’s go,” I say getting up just as quickly, marching my ass out of the restaurant waiting for my mom to follow me, I got outside and waited for her, it took that damn woman five whole minute to keep up with me.
“Why did it take you so long?” I ask her frustrated.
“I had to calm him down,” she answers me.
“Why? He’s a grown man, he can calm himself,” I say angry at her, I was the one who needed her attention and care not that wolf.
“His wolf wasn’t too happy with the way you talked to him, or me, so I had to stay for a couple minutes to avoid him causing any troubles,” she says.
“Right, because he’s your precious boyfriend now,” I say, stopping a taxi so we could get home, I got in and waited for mom to follow, she’s the one with the money, if she doesn’t come in, I’ll have to walk home.
“Wait till we get home, we’re gonna talk more about this, but Lotus what you did wasn’t acceptable at all,” she scolds me, but I didn’t care, I didn’t care to be nice or polite with some beast who’s just going to end up hurting my mother.
When we got home, I ran to my safe place, the bathroom, but she followed just as quickly, stopping me from locking myself in for the rest of the night.
“What he said is true, Lotus, he is my mate,” she says, I know she

“Prove it,” I challenge her, feeling too cocky, and confident in my challenge.
“Fine,” she says, keeping eye contact with me, she took her shirt off, what is she going to show off a love bite? That’s what I expected, instead, she turned around showing off what looks like a tattoo, but she didn’t get any, it didn’t look in the healing stage, it looked more like if she’d had it for years, but it wasn’t there before she met him.
“What’s this?” I ask her, confused.
“Levent’s mark, the mark of a wolf,” she says.
“But it’s a tattoo, it looks like a drawing,” I say my hand going up to touch her left shoulder, it looked like a tribal tattoo.
“It appeared the day we met, which means I’m his other half,” she explains to me.
“That can’t be true, no one ever mentioned anything about a tattoo or mark,” I answer her, she must of had it done by a professional.
“It’s one of the wolves secrets,” she answers me.
“Then why are you showing it to me?” I ask her with a raised brow.
“Because you’re my daughter, and he’s my mate, you’re family, you get to know the truth,” she answers me nonchalantly.
“Mate? What does it mean mother?” I asked her, feeling like world was about to be ruined by this Levent guy.
