Over the next few days, Chase became much
more proactive.
The way he looked at me changed, too. It was
complicated.
く
It was like I’d flipped a switch inside him, one
that made him want to kiss me and hold me
all the time.
Today was our class reunion party.
Chase ran into some of his buddies at the
door, so I went inside first.
Before I even reached our private room, I
heard Bailey’s cheerful laughter.
“You all have to come to Chase’s graduation
party! We can all watch Summer have a
complete mental breakdown.”
“It’s what she gets for always acting so high and mighty, looking down on everyone. I’l
show her that money isn’t everything. The
man she’s madly in love with is actually in
love with me.”
“Summer is so obsessed with Chase. She’s
going to cry her eyes out when she finds out
the truth.”
“Lifting her up to the heavens just to drop her
into hell. Bailey, you’re a genius.”
A wave of laughter followed.
Someone piped up, “Bailey, are you sure it’s a
good idea to let Chase spend so much time
with Summer?”
“Summer is seriously hot. Aren’t you worried
he’ll actually fall for her?”
Bailey laughed.
“Chase promised me. Besides that one time
at the school gate, he won’t get intimate with
her. He won’t even kiss her.”
The second she finished her sentence, I
pushed the door open and walked in.
The lively room went completely silent.
