When Chase drove me to the fish market, I
pretended to be confused.
“What are we doing here?”
He didn’t look me in the eye, just held my
hand.
“You made me a sandwich, so I wanted to
make you something. I thought we could get
some stuff at the market.”
I smiled and nodded, and we started walking
around.
We soon arrived at Bailey’s stall.
The smell of the fish market was disgusting,
<
and Chase wrinkled his nose.
Bailey was staring at the fish like she hated it,
not even touching it. She was just taking
money and handing out bags.

When she saw us, her face changed, and she
tried to hide.
I waved. “Bailey! Is this your family’s
business? We’re here to buy some fish. Chase
wants to make me fish soup.”
When she heard that, and saw Chase’s arm
around my shoulders, her eyes started to
water.
Her mom yelled at her to take money, but she
didn’t hear. She just ran off, crying.
Г
Chase looked panicked and started to go
after her.
I grabbed his arm. “Chase, this fish looks
great. Let’s get this one.”
He seemed to sense my strength, and he
nodded silently.
Back at his place, the second I put my stuff
down, I slapped him across the face.
Before he could react, I pushed him onto the
couch, straddled him, and kissed him hard.
He resisted at first, then seemed to
remember his deal with Bailey. He didn’t
move.
I kissed him and touched him, until his body
got hotter…
When I pulled away, his eyes were glazed
over, and he was still looking at my lips.
I stroked his red cheek and whispered,
“Chase, you’re my boyfriend. I don’t want you
looking at other girls.”
“You can only think about me. Otherwise, I
might hit you again. Got it?”
He swallowed and nodded. “Yeah.”
He leaned closer, his voice hoarse. “Can I kiss
you again?”
