Chapter 100 Accused of Infidelity
Ginny had no idea about Mrs. Wheeler’s attempt to strong–arm Professor Edward. That evening, after work, she stopped by the mall to buy a larger suitcase, something practical for her upcoming trip abroad.
By the time she got home, it was already past seven. She set the new suitcase down in the study, then headed into the kitchen to make a pot of porridge. That way, it would be ready by the time she finished packing.
She had just unzipped the suitcase when the doorbell rang.
Curious, she paused. Hardly anyone knew where she lived, aside from Ryan. Could it be him?
Still confused, she opened the door.
But instead of Ryan, she found two uniformed officers standing in the hallway.
Her brows drew together. “Can I help you?”
“Are you Ginny Jenkins?” one of them asked, voice firm.
She nodded. “Yes. What’s going on?”
The officer with the sterner face didn’t hesitate. “Someone’s reported you for marital infidelity. We’re here to bring you in for

questioning.”
Cheating? Her?
Her mind stuttered. Someone was framing her.

“Officers, there must be a misunderstanding,” she said, trying to stay calm. “My husband and I are in the middle of a divorce, yes, but we’ve already agreed to finalize it in the next couple of days. There’s really no need for any kind of investigation.”
She moved to close the door, but the officer shoved it open forcefully. The sudden motion threw her off balance, and she stumbled back, nearly falling.
Unfazed, the officer reached for her arm and pulled her out of the apartment.
“Divorce is divorce. Infidelity is a separate issue,” he said coldly. “Your husband works for the Special Ops Unit. Are you aware that cheating during a legal marriage can be considered a crime?”
No matter how she resisted, they dragged her to the police car and drove off.
Fifteen minutes later, in the interrogation room.
“Look at these,” the officer said, slapping a few photos down in front of her. “This woman–is it you? And the man beside you-

“The evidence is right here. I suggest you stop denying it. Cooperation gets leniency. Resistance just makes things worse.”
He slid the photos across the table.
Ginny glanced down. Every picture showed her and Ryan- captured in carefully selected, seemingly intimate angles. To someone unfamiliar, the shots could easily be misinterpreted.
But she knew the truth. She was there. These were manipulated and staged.
She stayed silent.
“What, nothing to say?” the officer scoffed. “Don’t tell me you don’t even recognize yourself anymore.”
His tone dripped with mockery, as if her guilt had already been decided.
Anger rose in her chest.
“These photos were taken deliberately, to make them look like something they’re not,” she said, voice steady. “If you don’t believe me, check the surveillance footage from the times and places these were taken.”
The officer rolled his eyes, unimpressed. “So what, unless we

have a shot of you two kissing or in bed, you’re claiming nothing happened?”
“Watch your words,” Ginny shot back. “You’re accusing me of infidelity, but all you have are a few photos. Since when do the police jump to conclusions with so little evidence?
“From the moment I walked in, you’ve been treating me like a criminal. We’ve never met before, so I have to wonder why the hostility? Unless someone’s been whispering in your ear.”
Her gaze locked onto his face, searching for any flicker of guilt, some crack in his expression.
But he remained unfazed.
“We’re following procedure,” he said flatly. “Sometimes the evidence needs a little help from the suspect. That’s where you come in.
“Ginny, I hear you’re a doctor. A respectable job. You wouldn’t want something like this going public, would you?
“If people start questioning your character, who’s going to trust you with their health?”
So this was it. He was trying to pressure her into a confession.
Realizing what he was doing, Ginny’s demeanor shifted. She shut down, giving him nothing more.

“No comment,” she said coolly. “Not until my lawyer is present.”
He hadn’t expected that. He thought he’d break her before she even processed what was happening. But now, his plan was slipping through his fingers, and frustration crept into his voice.
“Ginny, think carefully. You’re being accused of infidelity during a legal marriage. That’s serious. We can press charges anytime. We don’t have to wait for your lawyer.”
“That’s not going to happen,” she cut him off, sharp and calm. “Even a murderer has the right to a defense attorney. I haven’t committed a crime, so why wouldn’t I have that right too? And no matter how many times you ask, my answer won’t change: I. Did. Not. Cheat.”
“You-” he started, anger flaring.
But before he could say more, the other officer cut in.
“Bruce, don’t lose your temper. She’s right. As serious as this is, the law still grants her the right to legal counsel. And she can legally refuse to answer questions until her lawyer arrives. If you keep threatening or intimidating her, you’re the one breaking the law.”
