Chapter 59 Ginny Manipulated
Lucky Draw
Chandler opened his mouth to speak, but Ginny cut him off with a cold laugh.
“No, you don’t know. Because you only believe what you see— and whatever she tells you.”
Her voice was steady, but sharp. “So no matter what I say, no matter how much I explain, you’re never going to believe me.”
She paused for a beat, then added, “In that case, why don’t we just pull the security footage?”
Ginny turned to glance around. There were two cameras pointed right at them–clear angles. The whole incident should’ve been captured.
If they headed to the security room now…
“Chandler,” Melody interrupted quickly, her tone soft and coaxing, “it’s such a small matter. No need to make a big deal
out of it.”
She’d made up her mind to frame Ginny on impulse. In the moment, she hadn’t noticed the surveillance cameras.
Now that Ginny had brought it up, she swept the area with her eyes. Two cameras–both aimed directly at them. Her heart skipped.

“Chandler, my stomach doesn’t feel too good. Can you take me back to my room?” she asked urgently, clinging to his arm like she couldn’t wait another second.
Ginny watched her coolly, a flicker of contempt in her gaze.
“Didn’t you just say you were fine?” she said lightly. “Funny how the moment I mention checking the footage, your stomach starts acting up. Is your health on some kind of voice–activated system that responds to my words?”
The question sounded offhand, but Chandler caught the implication and turned to look at Melody, something unreadable in his expression.
“Are you sure your stomach hurts?” he asked quietly. “Are you sure you don’t want an apology from her?”
Melody heard the doubt in his voice. Her grip on his arm tightened, but she forced herself to nod, swallowing her frustration.
“Pregnant women are just sensitive,” she murmured. “You wouldn’t understand–you’ve never carried a baby.”
As she spoke, she leaned more heavily against him, letting him guide her back toward her room.
Chandler walked beside her, holding her steady.

Ginny stayed behind, her expression unreadable. She watched them walk away, then turned without a word and made her way toward the elevator.
Just as she rounded the corner, Chandler glanced back–and saw her disappearing, not once looking over her shoulder.
For some reason, that sight struck him hard, like something sharp had pierced his chest. His breath caught, and his steps slowed.
Melody felt him hesitate. She looked up quickly, concern on her face. “Chandler? Are you okay? Does something hurt?”
“No,” he muttered, his voice low.
He didn’t bring up the surveillance footage again, but his attention to her had clearly cooled.
Melody noticed. She bit back her dissatisfaction and lay back in
bed.
Outside the hospital entrance, Ginny pulled out her phone and dialed Ryan.
The moment he picked up, she got straight to the point. “Did something happen at your company?”
There was a pause on the other end. He sounded caught off

guard. “No. Everything’s fine. Why? Are you okay? Work been busy lately?”
“Ryan,” Ginny interrupted, her tone even, “I already know.”
She was about to tell him to stop involving himself in her affairs when something across the street caught her eye–a parked car. Inside, someone was seated, repeatedly glancing in her direction.
She frowned.
That car had been there earlier, when she arrived. It hadn’t moved. And the person inside kept looking her way.
Was this someone Melody had sent to keep tabs on her?
The thought made her stomach turn.
She hung up the call without another word and crossed the street. She walked directly to the car and stood before it.
“Who are you? Why are you following me?”
The driver rolled down the window, revealing a striking profile.
It looked vaguely familiar. When the man turned his head, she recognized him instantly—and her expression darkened.
“The Wheeler family really has nothing better to do, huh?” she

said sharply. “Your little brother met me just last night, and now you’re out here following me? What’s next–your eldest brother showing up tomorrow?”
Her voice dripped with sarcasm. “What is it you people want? Just spit it out.”
Kevin hadn’t expected to get caught. He’d only wanted to follow Ginny for a bit, see if she was trying to reconcile with Chandler or not. Now that she’d spotted him and turned the whole thing back on them, he scowled.
“The Wheeler family’s just big,” he snapped. “Not like you. All alone. Not even anyone to call for help.”
He narrowed his eyes at her. “I know you’re jealous of Melody. But if you keep using Chandler to mess with her, don’t blame us for what happens next.”
Hearing the threat, Ginny’s expression chilled. Her mind jumped back to the messages Wendy had sent her the night before. She stared at Melody’s brother with new wariness.
“What are you planning to do?”
He smirked. “Relax. I haven’t done anything… yet. But if you keep pushing your luck, I can’t make any promises.”
His voice lowered. “You might not care about yourself, but what about your professor? Or Ryan, who’s always looking out for

resourceful. A rising star. But like you, he’s got a fatal flaw. He’s got no roots. No backing. And people like him have to work ten times harder just to survive, let alone succeed.
“He was almost there. All that effort was about to pay off. But then–unfortunately for him—he met you.”
He said it all so calmly, as though he were simply laying out facts.
And then he watched her face, soaking in the flicker of pain that passed through her eyes.
That was what he wanted.
Once he saw it, he shifted again–now with the air of someone offering a solution.
“Just agree to the divorce,” he said. “You walk away from Chandler, and all your friends‘ problems? They go away too.”
