Chapter 4
Compared to her fury, I was very calm.
“Oh, you’re asking about that? However, who I got the certificate with doesn’t seem to concern you, right? As for betrayal, that’s even more out of the question.”
She yelled, “Daniel!”
I moved the phone away from my ear and said bluntly, “There’s no need to shout, I can hear you,”
“Son of the bitch!” she screamed.
Even through the phone, I could feel Clarice’s anger. She said, “My parents, my relatives and friends all know you’re my boyfriend and now,you registered with someone else… how are they supposed to look at me? Do you still say it has nothing to do with me? I’m your girlfriend… so for you getting married to someone else is a betrayal!”
“Well… how about you?” I shot back coldly. “My parents and relatives also know you’re my girlfriend and you registered your marriage with Baron… so how do you think they see me? Isn’t that betrayal too?”
“That’s not the same!” she refuted.
I laughed out of sheer anger. “How is it not the same, Clarice?” I asked. “You can have a marriage with Baron, but I can’t be with someone else? Isn’t it perfect now? You have Baron, I have someone else. From now on, we stay out of each other’s lives.”
‘You!”
Clarice’s heavy breathing could be heard through the phone. She snapped, “Where are you now? Come home immediately… I want to talk to you face to face.”
‘Although I think there is nothing left to say, I’ll return home.”
After speaking, I hung up directly, then called nine–one–one and asked for the police.
‘I’m reporting a case of trespassing on a private home. Yes, the address is at the Wisteria Lane.”
Since Clarice refused to move out, she shouldn’t blame me for being ruthless. After being together for six years, I had nothing to owe her.
Twenty minutes later, when I arrived home, Clarice was sitting on the couch. Her eyes reddened ike she’d just been crying. Meanwhile, Baron had his arm around her, whispering words of comfort.
didn’t spare them a glance. I turned to look at several women on the side who were sipping rec wine. I knew them. They were Clarice’s close friends.
The red wine they drank was a rare bottle that Abigail had mailed me from abroad. The price was astronomical, so I was unwilling to open it. I was sure I had hidden it well, yet they still managed to find it. Is this still my home or theirs?
I said coldly, “Who let you in? Leave! Now!”
I strode over in quick steps and snatched the wine bottle. When I glanced at it, I was in pain because only a little was left.
Bang!

Clarice slammed the table hard, stood up and glared at me, “Daniel, are you nuts? They’re my best friends and I invited them.”
I replied coldly, “Clarice, it seemed I had told you to leave. This isn’t your house anymore. Also, who gave them permission to dig out my wine and drink it?”
“You!” Clarice’s hand trembled as she pointed at me. She was too angry to speak.
Her friends, meanwhile, were making snide remarks.
“Clarice, since your boyfriend doesn’t welcome us, we’ll leave. Honestly, I think you should break up with a guy like this.”
“Right? It’s just a bottle of wine… and we didn’t even finish it. You’re so stingy. Never seen a mar like him.”
“Come on, let’s go! We’ll find somewhere better to drink. What a buzzkill.”
Baron looked at me and said, “Daniel, you misunderstood. They’re here because Clarice called them over to help clear up the misunderstanding between you two.”
“Misunderstanding?” My tone was flat. “I don’t recall any misunderstanding between me and
Clarice.”
Baron tried to speak again, but Clarice held him back and looked at me with a grim expression. “Daniel, I’ll ask one more time… are you really kicking me out?”
