Chapter 133: Visiting the Wounded
Chapter 133: Visiting the Wounded
(Aria’s POV)
When we entered Alexander’s private hospital room, he struggled to sit up upon seeing me, his face deathly pale from significant blood loss. His amber eyes brightened despite his obvious pain.
“Don’t move!” I quickly told him, rushing with concern “v

seriously injured and need to rest.”
Alexander managed a weak smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “It’s just a minor wound, nothing to worry about.”
But I knew better than to believe his dismissive words. I had witnessed Claire Watson stab that silver dagger directly into his body with murderous intent. I had
seen his crisp white shirt bloom with crimson blood, expanding like a deadly flower across the fabric.
Without Dominic’s perfectly timed arrival with the territorial enforcers, Alexander might have died from blood
loss alone. His wolf couldn’t heal properly from silver–inflicted wounds like ordinary injuries.
“Don’t worry about me,” Alexander continued, his voice gaining slight strength. “Even if I had died, saving you
would have been completely worth it.”
His unexpected declaration left me speechless, unsure how to respond to such sacrifice. My pregnant wolf stirred uneasily at his words, recognizing the genuine emotion behind them.
I quickly changed the subject to avoid the uncomfortable territory.
“How did you know I had been kidnapped by Claire in the first place?” I asked, settling into the visitor’s chair.
Alexander shifted slightly against his pillows, wincing from the movement.
“I happened to be passing through that area when I saw you in obvious trouble,” he explained carefully. “I followed your scent trail from there.”
I frowned with confusion. “But why didn’t you call the territorial enforcers first instead of attempting a rescue
alone?”
My voice carried genuine bewilderment. “We both could have been thrown into that concrete mixer if things
went differently!”
Alexander raised an eyebrow at my question, as if it were obvious.
“I did call the enforcers immediately, he replied with certainty. “How could I possibly attempt such a dangerous rescue alone against trained rogue wolves?”
I instinctively looked toward Dominic, who had been standing silently near the window during our entire
conversation.
He merely curled his lips into a sarcastic smile, his silver–gray eyes cold with obvious suspicion. “What a convenient coincidence,” Dominic commented dryly, his tone carrying clear disbelief. Alexander’s amber eyes flashed dangerously as he met Dominic’s challenging gaze. The tension between the

two Alphas crackled through the sterile hospital air.
Neither said another word, but their silent confrontation filled the room with uncomfortable energy
Suddenly, the hospital room door burst open with violent force. Elizabeth Reed rushed in anxiously, her former Luna authority evident even in her obvious distress.
Alexander! My son!” she cried out, her maternal instincts overwhelming her usual composure.
She was visibly startled to see both Dominic and me present, but quickly moved past us to Alexander’s bedside.
“Where exactly are you hurt?” she asked with deep maternal concern, her hands hovering over him
protectively. “Is the silver wound very painful?”
Her voice trembled slightly with worry.
Alexander reached up to squeeze his mother’s hand reassuringly. “I’m perfectly fine, Mother. My wolf is healing slowly but steadily.”
Elizabeth’s expression darkened with pure fury as she processed the situation.
“That despicable Claire Watson!” she cursed viciously, her usual refined demeanor completely shattered. “How dare she attack you with a silver weapon!”
Her voice rose with righteous anger.
“I’ll personally ensure she’s banished from all pack territories for her crimes against an Alpha!”
Sensing this intimate mother–son moment required privacy, I decided not to intrude any further.
“I should leave you to rest,” I announced, standing carefully from my chair. “I’ll visit again another day to check on your recovery.”
Alexander’s eyes followed my movement with obvious reluctance, but he smiled weakly.
“I’d like that very much,” he agreed softly.
After leaving the hospital room, Dominic escorted me into the elevator with his protective hand on my lower back. The doors closed with a soft whisper.
He immediately pulled out his mobile phone and dialed with swift efficiency.
“Marcus? It’s Dominic,” he spoke with Alpha authority. “I need you to check something for me immediately.”
I listened with growing curiosity as he continued.
“Was there any official record of Alexander Reed calling the territorial enforcers today about a k********g
situation?”
My eyebrows rose in surprise at his/direct investigation.
“I’ll wait for your confirmation,” Dominic concluded before ending the call.
“Do you still suspect Alexander of something?” I asked directly, though I found his suspicions somewhat
absurd.
Dominic met my gaze with unwavering intensity.
“I’ve never trusted him completely,” he stated coldly, his Alpha instincts clearly alert. “Something about his

timing feels deliberately orchestrated.”
I recognized this was fundamentally a matter between two rival Alphas that I shouldn’t interfere with. My pregnant wolf needed to avoid unnecessary stress and conflict.
“I won’t get involved in your suspicions,” I said diplomatically.
In the hospital lobby, Dominic noticed my obvious limping from my injured ankle.
“Let me carry you to the car,” he offered with genuine concern. “You’re clearly in pain.”
I declined with embarrassment. “You can just support me if needed. I can manage walking.”
He laughed warmly, his silver–gray eyes brightening with amusement.
“You shouldn’t feel embarrassed about accepting help,” he teased gently. “I’d be the one benefiting from such an arrangement anyway.”
His directness made my cheeks flush with heat. Just as I was struggling to formulate a proper response, Dominic suddenly pulled me into his protective embrace.
“Be careful!” he warned urgently.
A woman had appeared from nowhere, grabbing my wrist with desperate fingers.
“My dear daughter!” she cried out with overwhelming emotion. “Mother finally found you! Where have you been hiding all these years?”
I stared in complete surprise at the unfamiliar woman. She had fair skin and delicate, clear features that might have been beautiful in different circumstances.
But her eyes held a distant, unfocused quality that seemed to look through rather than directly at me. -“Mrs. Lewis?” Dominic recognized her immediately, his voice filled with concern. “What are you doing here at
the hospital alone?”
Before she could respond, a middle–aged woman in professional uniform rushed over, breathing heavily from
her obvious sprint.
“I’m so sorry, Alpha Dominic!” she apologized breathlessly to Dominic while bowing respectfully. “Mrs. Lewis wandered away during her afternoon walk.”
She turned to me with grateful relief. “Thank you for stopping her from going further.”
Dominic waved off the apologies with understanding. “Just take good care of her condition. These episodes can be dangerous.”
When the caregiver gently tried to lead Mrs. Lewis away from me, explaining that Dr. Lewis was waiting for them, Mrs. Lewis refused to release my arm.
“No!” she protested with genuine terror, her grip tightening desperately. “I won’t let anyone separate us again!” Her whole body trembled with the fear of abandonment.
I found myself in an extremely difficult position, but something strange stirred within me. This rare maternal warmth felt achingly familiar, reminiscent of how my own mother Emily used to hold me during childhood nightmares.
My wolf responded instinctively to the protective love radiating from this distressed woman.

“It’s alright,” I told the caregiver softly, though I didn’t fully understand my own reaction.
Just then, Dr. Nathan Lewis appeared, running toward us with obvious panic written across his usually composed features.
“Mother!” he called out with relief upon spotting her.
He expressed genuine surprise at seeing both Dominic and me present in the lobby.
“What brings you both here today?” he asked while catching his breath.
Dominic gestured toward Mrs. Lewis, who continued clinging to my arm like a lifeline.
“We encountered your mother. She seems quite distressed about something.”
Dr. Lewis’s cheerful demeanor immediately transformed into deep sadness as he observed his mother’s
condition.
“She probably mistook Aria for my younger sister,” he explained with a heavy sigh. “This happens frequently
during her episodes.”
I looked up with dawning understanding, remembering Mrs. Lewis calling me “daughter” with such desperate
love.

My heart clenched with unexpected emotion at his words.
I recalled Dominic mentioning that Dr. Lewis had a younger sister who was kidnapped and disappeared at only three years old. Despite years of extensive searching across multiple territories, she had never been
found.
The devastating impact on any mother would be unimaginable, especially for a she–wolf who had lost her
precious pup.

“I could.accompany her for the examination if it would help,” I offered spontaneously, my maternal instincts stirring protectively.
Dr. Lewis declined with a bitter smile, though his eyes reflected deep gratitude for my kindness.
“That’s incredibly thoughtful, but I couldn’t impose such a burden on you.”
Just as I was about to insist that helping wouldn’t be any trouble, Mrs. Lewis’s desperate grip suddenly loosened completely.
Her wolf’s overwhelming distress finally overcame her human consciousness, and she collapsed
unconscious in my arms.
Dr. Lewis quickly caught his unconscious mother, cradling her with practiced care born of years managing
her condition.
“She typically behaves this way during severe episodes,” he explained with professional sadness. “But they never last very long, thankfully.”
Concern filled my voice as I asked, “Will she be alright? Is there anything more that can be done?”
Dr. Lewis shook his head with weary reassurance.
“She’ll be perfectly fine after sleeping. The medication helps manage her worst symptoms.”
As I watched Dr. Lewis carefully carry his unconscious mother toward the hospital’s psychiatric wing, I

remained rooted to my spot in the lobby.
I stared at their retreating figures for an extended time, unable to shake off the strange thoughts swirling through my mind.
An inexplicable emptiness filled my heart completely, as if I had just lost something incredibly important.
My wolf whimpered softly with an emotion I couldn’t identify or name.
