Chapter 239
Gabriel said, “He’s destroyed the Gibson family, and now he’s hiding like a coward.”

He continued, “Dad’s funeral is coming up soon. If Christian doesn’t show his face, I’ll have him struck from the family register. Let him hide forever with that–no, with that whore of his.” Gabriel’s voice was thick with hatred.
He could accept Daniella’s betrayal. She wasn’t a Gibson by blood, and they’d been ruthless with her, pushing her to the brink and making it clear they’d send her to prison. She’d always been selfish–of course she’d find a way to escape.
But Christian was different. They were his family. Sure, Wyatt had always favored Abigail, but he showered Christian with affection too.
Despite Christian’s lack of ability, Wyatt had given him control of multiple subsidiaries. And now he’d killed Wyatt and was hiding like a coward.
Gabriel realized now that Abigail had actually helped the Gibson family.
When Gabriel had sent Daniella to Quentin, Abigail had told Stephen, who’d sent Christian to rescue her.
Gabriel never left his enemies any room to maneuver, but he’d forgotten one crucial thing–a cornered animal would fight to the death.
He had finally figured it out, but it was too late. The Gibson family had fallen to this point, and there was no going back.
“Do we have to hand over our personal assets?” Stephen asked him.
Stephen hadn’t saved much over the years, but he’d made investments. He had luxury cars and had bought plenty of gold. The thought of giving it all up made his heart ache.
“Let’s count up Christian’s assets first and see how much there is. Then we’ll discuss what to do,” Gabriel said, his voice drained of energy. “Don’t let Abigail worry about Mr. Wyatt Gibson’s funeral arrangements.”
Gabriel knew what was coming. Except for Christian, who had fled, they were all going to prison. There was no escaping it.
Abigail would not spare them.
The Gibson family’s downfall was largely his fault. His incompetence had led them here.
Now he was bedridden, and of his four children, only Stephen remained by his side.
The irony wasn’t lost on him. He’d spent most of his life wielding power and influence like a king. Now in his old age, he faced prison and would have to empty the family coffers to clean up the mess his worthless son had created.
Stephen grunted in acknowledgment.
“Can’t we try asking Abby again?” Bianca spoke up from the side.
Stephen’s face immediately darkened.
Gabriel started to push himself up, ready to slap her, but then he remembered how he used to hit and yell at Abigail. He held himself back.
Bianca still shrank away in fear.
“If you don’t want us to have a harder time in prison, then keep your mouth shut! Think about what you’ve done and reflect on it. Don’t bother her! You might not care about your dignity, but I still have mine!”
Gabriel forced the words out through his anger before lying back down.
Abigail had made her position crystal clear, and Bianca had the nerve to ask her for help!

Chapter 239
“Haven’t you heard a word Warren said? You want to beg her now? What gives you the right?” Stephen couldn’t believe how foolish his mother was being. “She just happens to have the Gibson name. She has nothing to do with you!”
“But 1-”
“From now on, forget this idea that Abigail is your daughter!” Stephen said coldly. He turned and walked away.
Bianca wanted to tell him she truly regretted everything, that she knew she’d been wrong. But the words died in her throat.
Three days later, Warren brought Abigail to Gabriel’s hospital room to hear their decision.
“This is the complete list of assets that Stephen compile
card tucked between the pages.
Take a look. We haven’t hidden anything,” Gabriel said, handing Warren a ledger with a bank
At this point, Gabriel’s sincere cooperation was strategic. He hoped that when they got out of prison, Abigail might show them some mercy for Wyatt’s
sake.
Prison was inevitable for them. The money would be useless while they were locked up, so it made sense to give it all to Abigail now as a gesture of goodwill.
Maybe it would soften her heart just enough that she’d help them out when they were released.
Warren knew exactly how much they owned. He’d done his homework long ago.
What surprised him was their honesty. They hadn’t tried to hide anything.
Warren handed the account books and cards to Abigail and said calmly, “They’re telling the truth. No hidden assets. But it all adds up to just six million dollars. Against a debt of one hundred and fifty million, it’s a drop in the bucket.”
Abigail said nothing. She was about to leave when police officers walked into the room.
The officer showed his badge and scanned the room before speaking. “I’m Nolan Carlson. Since everyone’s here, I’ll need a few minutes of your time.”
Stephen’s face went white as paper the moment he saw the police. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and his whole body tensed with panic.
“Evidence from back then is hard to find,” Nolan said. “But we do have a recording. We need to verify a few things with you.”
