Stephen took off fast. Abigail didn’t even get a chance to return the car keys. She saw Christian was still there and tossed the keys to himi.
“Who asked for your pity?” Christian retorted, yet he kept the car keys in his grip.
“If you don’t want my ‘pity,’ then refuse it. Stop acting all high and mighty while taking what I’m offering.” Abigail laughed coldly, raised her chin, and walked away.
Christian stepped forward and grabbed her wrist. “Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on. Stevie’s targeting Dari like this because you’re pulling strings behind the scenes. You say I’m acting high and mighty? How are you any better?”
“Let go of me!” Abigail’s voice was full of disgust.

Before Christian could finish his sentence, Abigail’s palm connected with his face. He stood there stunned for a moment, then raised his hand to hit her
back.
“Chris, what the hell are you doing?” Wyatt’s voice cut through the tension just in time.
Abigail took the chance to grab Christian’s hand and shove him away hard. He stumbled back two steps, his voice full of rage. “She hit me! Didn’t you see that, Grandpa?”
Wyatt looked completely unbothered. “How hard can a girl hit? You’re a grown man. Can’t you handle that much?”
Abigail couldn’t help but smirk. ‘No wonder the Gibson family loves their double standards so much,‘ she thought. ‘When they work in your favor, it actually feels pretty good.‘
“Fine.” Christian wasn’t like Stephen. He didn’t enjoy being aggressive and pushy. ‘She slapped me today, but I’ll get her back eventually,‘ he thought. He grabbed his car keys and headed straight to the dining room.
Wyatt came downstairs and walked over to Abigail’s side. “How did I do?” he asked quietly.
“Great. Thanks, Grandpa. I need to get to work now. Make sure you eat breakfast.” Abigail

on her face.
“You know, when Stevie offered you that car, you should’ve taken it. Now look what happened. Daniella gets to keep it for nothing.” Wyatt figured Abigail could let anything slide, but never pass up money or valuable things.
“I don’t need it. I’m heading out now,” Abigail said. She needed to find a chance to tell Wyatt that she was more than just a Halden Group employee. Otherwise, he’d keep worrying that she was getting the short end of the stick.
When Abigail arrived at Halden Group, she immediately spotted the luxury car parked right in front of the building.
James was leaning against it, completely ignoring all the office workers walking past. As soon as he saw Abigail, he waved his hand in the air. “Abby, over
here!”
Abigail walked quickly toward him. “I see you.”
With a guy that big standing right by the main entrance, how could I miss him?‘ she thought.
James opened the car door for her. “Get in, Abby. I’m driving you over to Seb so you can get a good scolding.”
People walking by couldn’t help but laugh when they heard him.
Abigail looked completely exasperated. “Could you maybe wish me well for once? How do you know I’m going to get criticized?” As she spoke, she was already getting into the car.

the lames slid into the driver’s seat and said, yesterday, Seb was expecting you to show up to he specifically had the hotel pres instead, some complete glutton howed up, and he was pretty ticked off-
That’s not my fault though That’s on whoever went instead, Abigail said innocently.
“Yeah, but when Seb gets mad, he likes to take it out on everyone around him,” James said, sounding genuinely worried for her.
All big bosses have that problem, Abigall thought.
When they reached the Victoria Grand Hotel, Abigail instinctively felt nervous. “Is he really that angry?”
“Yeah, so it’s going to be on you to smooth things over with him,” James said with a completely serious a
expression.
Abigail took a deep breath and followed him into the elevator. When they reached the floor where Sebastian’s suite was, she hid behind James. “You go
in first.”
“I’m scared too. You go first,” James said, barely holding back a grin as he stepped aside to let her pass.
Abigail gave him a look and sighed, giving up the fight. She walked into the living area, carefully making her way toward the table.
When she rounded the corner, she saw Sebastian sitting on the couch in his casual clothes, with a laptop open on the table in front of him.
With his gold–rimmed glasses, Sebastian had that deceptively refined look that could be dangerous.
Abigail walked over and said quietly, “Mr. Robinson, I brought the meeting summary.”
Sebastian looked up, his gaze cold and sharp. “Why did you decide to switch people at the last minute yesterday? And why replace yourself with someone completely useless?”
Abigail couldn’t exactly say it was because the guy had disgusted her and she’d acted on impulse. “We should give our colleagues opportunities, right?” she said awkwardly.
James covered his mouth but still let out a laugh.
“Opportunities aren’t for people who can’t handle the job. You know that perfectly well. If you won’t tell me, I’ll just ask Timothy myself.” Sebastian’s tone was flat and indifferent.
