Chapter 6
An hour later, Damien had his secretary bring Rosy to him.
Rosy assumed Damien had cooled off. After all, he’d always given her whatever she wanted, and now she was pregnant on top of that. She didn’t believe he would actually ignore her, so she came happily to meet him.
“What’s wrong. Damien? Did you get news about Violena? I told you, I’ve seen plenty of women like her-”
The moment she walked in, before Rosy could finish speaking, Damien grabbed her hair, forcing her words back down her throat.
Seeing the vicious look in Damien’s eyes, Rosy finally felt afraid and frantically spoke up.
“Damien, what’s wrong? Don’t you recognize me? I’m Rosy! Don’t do this… I’m scared…”
Damien’s grip on her hair tightened suddenly, his voice cold as death itself.
“You’re scared? You had the nerve to provoke Violena behind my back, and now you’re afraid?”
Rosy’s expression froze. She instinctively wanted to deny it, but Damien didn’t give her the chance, violently throwing her to the ground.
As Rosy sat sprawled on the floor trying to speak, the secretary handed Damien his phone, interrupting her.
“President Scott, we just received these surveillance videos-one from your hallway at home, and one from the hospital entrance.”
“You should see for yourself.”
The first video showed this morning’s hallway footage.
Unlike the pitiful victim act Rosy had put on when he saw her, she was full of provocation when facing Violena alone, her words utterly vicious:
“Though I’ll give you credit-you had good taste, spotting Delcher’s potential back in college. His abilities really were impressive. In just a few years, he built the Scott family into what it is today.”
“What a shame he was short-lived. Died before he could enjoy the fruits of his labor. Oh my, you don’t have some kind of husband-killing curse, do you? Poor Delcher must have been cursed to death by you…”
When that video ended, the secretary’s voice continued:
‘Miss Violena came to the hospital today, but before entering, she received a message… from Miss Rosy.”
The phone showed footage from under the streetlights outside the hospital. On a long bench, Violena sat completely alone, staring blankly at her phone, crying harder and harder until her whole shoulders were shaking.
After a passerby approached her, her face went deathly pale, as if she’d made some crucial decision. She seemed to make a phone call, only leaving in a daze after hanging up.
With all the evidence laid out, Rosy knew she couldn’t argue. She could only grab onto Damien’s leg and beg desperately.
‘Damien, listen to me! I really didn’t mean it!”
‘Damien, it’s because I’m pregnant! I felt so insecure, I wanted a family with you so badly, but I kept feeling like Violena’s presence was like a ticking time bomb, so I did this.”
‘I love you, Damien! You don’t know how much I love you!”
“I really didn’t mean it. I was just so afraid of losing you. Please, Damien, forgive me, please forgive me…”
But Damien didn’t want to hear anymore. He kicked her away hard.
“Shut up! You didn’t mean it? You deliberately went upstairs to humiliate her, deliberately sent her that message, and you say you didn’t mean it!”
You did all this because you were terrified I’d fall for her, terrified she’d steal your position, didn’t you?”
Now you’re scared? Too late!”
As his words fell, Damien kicked Rosy viciously, then turned to his secretary.
Let them in.”
Several people in white coats and masks entered from outside.
Rosy collapsed on the floor, constantly backing away, her voice full of terror.
“Damien, what are you doing! You can’t treat me like this-I’m carrying your child! You can’t do this to me!”
Damien acted as if he couldn’t hear her at all, speaking coldly.
“Drag her to the basement. Remove that bastard from her belly. No anesthesia.”
